I got the counted clock mode working. This one just uses three lights for each of the three values. It's reading 7:26 (the lights blink seven, two, and six times). I'm not sure it's easier to read than the binary version. And it takes longer (anywhere from one up to twelve blinks, even though I sped each blink up the average is probably slower), so any missed read has to wait longer for the second try.

I'm starting to think the original (hours, five minutes, each in its own color) display that I first saw might be best. I'll have to give that a shot next.
