Hard drive crashing! Immediate replacement necessary!

I'm actually moving the old (1TB) backup drive to be the main drive, once I migrate the backup data onto this new (2TB) one. I keep multiple snapshots over time with my backups. That's proved useful a few times (file disappears, realize much later that it's gone, that 3-months-old backup still has it, yay!), so the backup is bigger than the main data set.

It looks like I can still read all the data from the existing disk. But, ironically, I was getting around to finally encrypting the backup drive (irony: encrypt your drive, do a full backup to an un-encrypted external drive), and shuffling the data around to empty it out revealed the failure, with a lot more writes than usual.
